Why Lockman Piano Studio?
I am an experienced piano teacher, pianist, and chamber musician. I operate a piano studio in Elkhart, Indiana, where I teach a wide variety of enthusiastic, dedicated students. I love teaching, and developing positive relationships with students. Each student has a unique perspective on life and on music.

“Juliana’s students have the opportunity to perform in various competitions and contests, as well as several recitals throughout the year.  It is evident that her music selection for the students and the pacing of her lessons is well thought out. The students are always extremely well prepared for all performances. As a band director, I was continually amazed by the fundamental skills that my children were learning and mastering.  This includes scales, chords, arpeggios and memorizing music. Watching my children learn and develop under Juliana’s direction, certainly encouraged me to push my own students further in their musical development.

I  am thankful for the love of music that Juliana has instilled in both of my children.  Their years of piano lessons will always be a building block for future musical development.  It is without hesitation that I recommend Juliana Lockman to any future piano students.”

    Sandy Carnall( Northside Band Director).

Sharing my Passion

I am a strong believer that everyone should be able to have a life of music. That's why I became a teacher. Whether you're a just a beginner or an advanced student needing guidance,

Whether you’re a parent looking for lessons for your preschool or school-age child, a young adult looking to learn a new skill or a mature adult who’s ready to stop feeling regret over quitting piano lessons as a child, you’ve taken the first step in the process – finding the teacher who is right for you!

Adult students come from a variety of backgrounds and have a variety of goals, what's yours?

  • You may  want to sharpen your musical skills or learn for the first time
  • You may already play an instrument like the guitar
  • You may wish your parents didn’t let you quit 30 years ago
  • You may want to join your church’s worship team (there are never enough keyboardists and always plenty of guitarists I might add!)
  • You may want to dust off your rusty fingers and play some of your favorite pieces  from memories past.
  • You may  want something to help your mind stay active
  • You may  just want to be able to sit down and play a little ditty to relax after  work.

My classes and the desire to learn

I offer both group and private lessons, separated by skill level, for piano only. If you're unsure about which level is appropriate for you, I also offer placement tests!I

It is never too late to play the piano!

Let me tell you now, playing the piano isn’t just for kids or for the “talented.” (By the way, “talent” is overrated.) It’s all about grit, determination, and the desire to learn. You don’t have to be a rock star, perform at church, or play hot cross buns if you don’t want to. What you get out of piano lessons is totally up to you! If you believe you can do it, you can. I will move at your pace with whatever type of music meets your fancy.
